I have noticed that after it rains or in the mornings when the humidity is up my serpentine belt squeaks for about 5-10 seconds when I first start the truck up, it goes away after that and dont ever hear it while driving or while at idle, any suggestions??
First suggestion would be to search this forum, because this topic has been discussed several times already.
And if you did a search, then you would see that one of best choices is to switch out that belt with a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I ordered mine through Autozone auto parts store.
Trust me, I went through this with a Sport-Trac....Take a paintbrush, get it wet and find a place where you can SAFELY put your hand in there. Let it run for 30-40 seconds over the splines, and the noise will be gone. Until you run it through the car wash again and it sprays underneath getting the belt wet. The dealer replaced pulleys, and idler wheels for free several times, but the noise kept coming back. Then I figured it was dirty and tried the paintbrush on it. IT WORKED!!!
^huh, you wet the belt with the paintbrush and the noise goes away? That makes no sense since the wetness usually causes the squeal to begin with. Just replace the belt with a Gatorback like many others have and you'll be done and you won't rip your hand off trying to apply a paintbrush to the belt.
well I guess it's like spraying on belt dressing. But usually belt dressing makes things worse or it's just a short-term solution and the squeal will come back.
As was mentioned, check the belt tensioner pulley. It has a lubricated for life sealed bearing which only has so many revolutions in it. Once it's gone it will disintigrate. The pully is cheap and easy to replace. Makes for a much quieter ride.

No, the paintbrush removes the dirt from the splines. A dirty belt will squeal like an idler pulley, water pump pulley, or alternator bearing. I realized it was my belt when I dumped a glass of water on it and it shut up. After it dried, the noise....Wait a second....I already said this once....
Oh, and after going through that with my Sport-Trac, I started to work for Ford. 7 out of 10 times, all we had to do was clean the belt splines, and the noise was gone. Helluva lot easier doing that than replacing the pulleys. No charge either. Told the customer their belt was dirty, and never had a complaint.
