Any out there ever use the RB accelerator? I need to paint the frame on my mud truck that I am building so I can get the body, motor and rest of the drivetrain in. The frame had been sitting outside uncoversed as a rolling chassis for the last 12 years (it was my uncles old 79 F-150 spare frame and axles). So needless to say the frame has alot of surface rust to the point that is is pitted. I have been hitting it with a wire wheel getting most of the scale off, and I'm ready to paint it. The problem is I don't have a place where I can paint it (or store it for that matter) inside. Being that its been in anywhere from the 30s to the 50s outside, can I even do it and make it cure properly? The accelerator is supposed to reduce cure times from 4 hours to 30 minutes, and was thinking this might be a good option.
I painted most of my frame with RB with temps in the 40s and it was dry to the touch within an hour. I cant say how long it took to cure but it seemed to dry much quicker than rustoleum would
I wouldn't use the accelerator, it is an added component i believe. That means you got a half hour to paint everything... Rust bullet is too expensive to risk it. Prep it and paint it with the regular automotive fomula. Just my opinion.
