I left the OBS ranks 2/14/2008 when I sold my 95 to a new (very excited) owner, with hopes to soon return with the purchase of an OBS Powerstroke-fired truck. However, it is with great regret that I'm reporting that I've defected. NO, I did not switch brands, just body styles:
The new ride is a 99 F250 C/C 4x4 PSD with 163K miles. Normally I'd have run from a truck with so many miles, but this truck is in such good shape you can't believe it honestly. My old 95 was a clean truck as well, this one is as clean if not cleaner, you'd think it had 63K on it instead of 163K by looking at it. And the best part is I practically stole the thing- $12K out the door (retail is about $16.5K). I drove it home 3 hours and I'm super pleased, it drives like a truck with many, many less miles on it. I'm sad to leave the OBS ranks and nervous about the short box, but at the same time stoked over my new purchase and can't wait to see what this bad boy is made of! I'll still stick my (very) ugly head in here so don't worry, you haven't got rid of me... yet
BTW, the cell phone setup you see in photo #3 is going away tomorrow and the Sirius player going in
My in-laws have an '04 with the 6.0L, and other than the occasional electronic glitch, they love it. It gets great mileage (for what it is) and pulls their fifth-wheel camper with no trouble at all. In other words, for their purposes, it's the perfect truck.
I could see myself in an earlier Super Duty with the 7.3, but it'll be a few years before I "need" something like that.
Looks like a very nice truck. I'll be very tempted to upgrade to a Super Duty if the right one comes along. I really want a crew cab and it's pretty hard to find a nice OBS one without a ton of miles. Good luck!
