Stock or Warmed over??

The P.O ,supplied a 91 351w/AoD combo, I've managed to fit it,..I'spent the afternoon removing said engine, and cracked it open to see what it looked like inside..P.O said it only had 600 mile's on it..yeah right...
Surprise!! Surprise!!..If this engine has 1500 miles on it ,I would would be surprised!!
So what would YOU do ??? I value this site's insight/veiw's ,
Should I put new rings and a gasket kit in it, clean it up and paint? ..stock?
Or do you think the engine and trans could utilize some improvements?
This is to be a cruiser now, no wheelstands. What would you do?
Rear is a Exploder .3.73 ratio, 15 inch wheels.

I'd run what ya got see'in how it looks good. Even stock it should have more than enough power especially since the rear is fairly low geared. I bought my 5.0 with 60,000 actual miles so all I did was rear seal, valve cover seals (cuz I knew they were leaking), other misc seals and waterpump. Knowing my general laziness I'd rather do those things while it's on the stand and I'm cleaning and painting her up.

IMO, to save your rear end from breaking, or the AOD failing, I'd keep the engine under 350 hp and 350 ft lbs of torque. And that's on the high side. Up to you on how to do it. Unfortunately it's not a '94 and newer roller block.

Well.., I was planning on a Complete gasket set, front and rear seals anyway...I could not just paint this thing and take a chance everything inside was ok...didn't know if some critters had taken up residence..new valve guide seals, rings, gasket set was what I had in mind, clean everything up,then paint,..

do you really need to ask? i'm sure there some simple mod to get better proformance, and it might be justifited in mpg. don't forget that everything work together. i would at lest investagate a cam up grade and would check on a 3 angle gride in the head and up sizing valves. get to breath better.
there some good people here at FTE check the forum for your motor. or http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/ make sure you give info like, motor , trans, rearsize, rear gears rato, overall wieght and what your going to do with it. just remember it all work together.
