Hey Guys! Just went outside to move my truck and cycled my glow plugs and went to start the truck and motor would turn over but didnt start. I turnned it off and went to try it again and still nothing. I pulled the key out but my dash panels lights were all on and the fuel pump was running yet, the doors locking and unlocking rapaidly? But the key was out I unhooked the batteries to get the truck to stop doing this and left them off for 5 mins and hooked back up. Same problems again?? I'm thinking its a computer but not sure. Im out of warrenty so any help would be appreciated!
It is a 04 and there has never been water in the fuse panel that i know of. I disconnected the batterys and removed the pcm wire connections and the truck is still acting up. I traced it back to a relay under the hood beside the master cyl. I removed the relay and it wont do it and as soon as I plugged it back in it acts up. I cant find what the relay is for in my manuals.
I had issues like this last winter with a 00 powerstroke. Defroster/blower motor would continue to run after ket was removed and the speedometer quit working for a day. When the slush and snow went away, the pickup fixed itself. I still have not replaced anything, and everything has been working normal for the past year. I was told its a problem with the leaky windshield and dripping down on some circuit box. My windshield does leak a little, ever since new my filing cabinet gets wet up there on the dash. I don't know if this helps, but it may be a place to start!
I have to agree with maximum4x4, The windshield is leaking on the fuse panel, possibly a very slow leak. water gets in the panel and shorts out the circuit bars, causing all sorts of gremlins to pop up.
You have to eliminate, so make a starting point. One place to look is for entry of water getting into the panel. Nothing you posted is common, but a point in the direction of a wire issue or water.
A no start can be a high pressure pump leak under normal symptoms. Until you find out what is going on electrically, I would disregard the high pressure leak for now.
Just got done working on it again. My friend who is a mechanic just came over with his computer to see if he could tell anything. Nothing came up. I hooked everything back up normally but i pulled the relay out that kept click without the key in the ignition. There was a code that poped up saying it was the back pressure sensor. I have a feeling now that the problem is in the key switch wiring. Im calling ford tomorrow I cant go with out this truck for long this week. I let you guys know what it is anymore input will be greatly appreciated!
