What is the easiest way to remove the oil filter? it is a 97 regular cab off road with a 4.6 and 4X4. I go it out and the new one in, but it was very hard and included a lot of pushing, pulling, and twisting. There has to be a better way to remove it.
do you have the relocation setup on the driver's side of the front bumper? If not, it still shouldn't be that hard. Get you one of those band-type oil filter wrench and it will work fine.
i'm not sure if they were an option or what, but my 5.4L '98 has a filter relocater that mounts on the driverside frame right behind the bumper. Makes it extremely easy to get to. I know you can get them at parts stores for 40-60 bucks, but alot of our trucks had them factory.
My '97 is the same way. What a pain! I'm due for an oil change and was wondering if anyone has a link to a relocater? This would be a good time to install one.
well not sure how it broke, was like that when i bought it, and ya the cap fits on!! but thanks for the help, ya i was thinking bout 6 to 7 cause seems to have a bigger oil pan
Would love to have my filter relocated on my 2000 5.4. Anyone know what years of F150's they came on? Might try to find one in a wrecking yard first. Jim
