Not trying to discourage you but may i ask why is the tranny you have blown or too weak? if there is nothing wrong i dont see why to swap it out unless it its toast or you really want to do it...
Not discouraged a bit. I'd like to rebuild a 4R100 and put it in at a later time. I don't do things on a whim. I just don't want to sink any money in a project that doesn't give me the return I want.
apparently the computers are incompatable in the trucks, i have been told its not a software problem, its actually a hardware problem... so the computer would have to be swaped from a 5.4l that had the 4R100 in it.
Thanx. I'm not surprised but did they everoffer a 4R100 in a 7700GVW F-150? I'll have to call my tuner and discuss any problems to. He said he could cover a 4v engine when I swap.
I thought so. I should have got that option when I got the truck. I wouldn't be running around with these 3.55s either. I've heard the tuners are rough on the trans pump so I really want to get a shift kit.
shift kit dosnt help much with these kinds of trannys, the tuners are the best route to go... the shift kit was a big help on the turbo 350 and 400's but they dont make near the difference on these transmissions...
All that the tuner does is allows the solenoid valves to move faster, thus a faster/firmer shift without the useless wear when slipping between gears. I don't know how that would effect the pump. S shift kit will help with the tuner, but it just uses heavier springs and would have the same effect on the pump.
