Does the pedal return all the way up?
You could always find any old spring the right size to make it work.
I keep any spring I can fine for these type of things.

No it doesn't.When I release the brake, the cables go slack and just hang there. The shoes don't release from the drums either.
The cable may be froze up, this happens a lot in snow country.
Get under the truck and pull on the cables with your hand, you should be able to pull them one at a time and feel them come out and return easily, if not you need new cables.
I managed to free them up with very little effort. Is the return spring only for the foot pedal? If it is, then I'm not too concerned about getting one right away.
As long as the cables work freely you should be ok, I need to pull my pedal up as well when I use it but I need to change my cables out so I don't use it, one of my cables is broke.
O.K.,thank's that solves my issue.I will need to lube the cables up better,or maybe I have to switch the left to the right. But that's good new's at any rate.
