Duraspark distributor, how do I get the metal piece under the rotor button off. Appears to be some type of clip down inside, two little piece of metal that maybe need to be pushed apart and lifted out. Do I need a special tool, thanks.
Using tfi coil, gm module, and a like new duraaspark dist. I found at junkyard. Could not find one for 360 so I have to take apart and put on my dist. Above article show how to take apart duraspark dist. Once I get it togather I post results.
Here is an article on how to put duraspark on my dist. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d800a5744.jsp
To get the reluctor off, I use two flat blade screwdrivers just as shown in the pic in the article you linked to.
Are you converting apoints dist. to DS as we talked about earlier? When I convert a point dist. to DS I make two small cuts in the dist. body right above the hole where the hot wire to the points goes through, making it into a slot that fits the grommet for the DS pickup. I then apply a little silicone to help seal it. All the rest of the conversion is simply replacing the points-related parts with the DS parts from a donor dist. I have some pics I took when I did mine for my '68, planning to do a write-up. Let me know if you need anything.
Yes exactly, could not find a 360 dist. but did find an almost new one out of a different size engine. Seems to be a hot topic so I'am posting any info I find. Hope to work on it tomorrow, any info you post would be great! Thanks for the help.
Hope to switch to a high powered alternator once this is done. Need the power for a stereo I'am putting in.
