I swapped out my fm70 yesterday for a Cherry Bomb Vortex. I am very pleased with the sound. I have a ebay Y-pipe and with the 70 it sounded with a n/a diesel with worn out glasspacks. The vortex has a great sound and it seemed to pick up some on the top end. If you are up in the air about a new muffler, I would give the vortex a look.
I have the FM70 right now and plan to go to a Magnaflow. I saw the Vortex and I like the design. I don't think they make one in the body length I need though.
What I did was pull off the fm70. I bought a Edelbrock SDT, Magnaflow(22" body), FM 50suv, and the Vortex. I thought the magnaflow was a bit quiter than the fm70. As far as size goes, you can add a small peice in to make up the difference and then weld or clamp it. Had to add about 4-1/2".
I was going to go with a Magnaflow with an 18" body.
Overall I like the FM70 except for two things. Its a little too quiet and I think its hurting my top end power. (Chambered muffler are more restrictive) For some reason it seems the FM70 got a little louder after a few months, but not much.
The exhaust shop that put the system on bent up a pipe to go between the cat and muffler and it doesn't suit me. They didn't have a mandrel bender and collapsed the tubing pretty good at the two bends. I'm just going to get some magnaflow mandrel bends and fab up a new new one. Muffler length isn't a real big issue I just want some capacity so it doesn't get too loud.
Are you running a single 3" or a single in/dual out muffler?
So is the vortex quieter than the fm 70? Im looking for a new muffler and from what ive read the flowmaster is the quietest. I also have a y pipe and my stock muffler sounds just like you described the 70, "glass packs" and i cant stand it any longer! I just dont want to drop $120.00 and still have it sound like sh**! Which one is the quietest? Thanks for any replies

The Vortex is going to be quite a bit louder than the FM70.
The FM50BB muffler is actually a tad quieter than the FM70 BB2 because the FM50BB has a case that is 2" wider than the FM70BB2. Other than the FM50BB being 2" wider it has the exact same dimensions as the FM70BB2.
The FM70 sounds much better than the stock muffler. Not much louder but has a deeper tone to it.
He says his sounds like a glass pack, just like my stock muffler. I just want to avoid that and its my hunting rig so the quieter the better. I just want to be sure im not spending money to have the truck sound the same you know! They sure want some coin for those 50 series big blocks so im leaning towards the 70
that sounds pretty good.how ,in your opinion, does it sound going down the road and with a load?does it ever get "blatty" when you're getting on it?
I think it sounds fine. The "blatty" sound I think is I had the camera too close. The first video I made blew water all over the camera I seems to me not much louder than stock going down the road. There is a little more sound when getting on it but not obnoxoius loud.
is it a stainless exhaust?the tailpipe looks almost polished stainless.i've been thinking about an exhaust for a while but don't like how they sound, usually.yours doesn't have that v10 weirdness that i can't stand.it sounds a little louder than stock without the honda sound.
I got it from Autoanything. The lifetime warranty was a big seller to me also. I see in your signature you have a 3v so it might not sound the same. Not sure either what kits Magnaflow makes for the 3v.
