Cleaning turbo, do it at home or leave it to a shop?
In the middle of an egr/oil cooler replacement, doing the work myself, and wondering about cleaning the turbo. Is it something that's best left for a shop, or should I go at it myself?
Also, I was wondering if there's anything I can look for while she's stripped down to show sure signs of a blown head gasket. Trucks symptoms were of a bad egr cooler but I'd hate to get everything bolted back on and turn out I have a bigger problem on my hands.
Really no visual signs. Best thing to do before you start tearing down is to put a simple pressure gauge between the degas bottle and small hose from the radiator and run wot and see you pressure. Anything over 14 or 15 would be a good sign of hg. Do you have a lot of pressure in the degas bottle after sitting over night? Also a sign.
