Cowl Vent Question?

I was going through my inventory of my parts and realized I don't have the parts to open up the cowl vent. I have the cowl vent and the rubber but no operating parts. Does any body have a spare one floating around. I'll glady buy it and pay for the shipping down under.

I thought this might help. You can narrow down the parts you need so you don't have to pay any extra shipping charges and to know what you're missing:

BTW, this is listed as the 53/55 truck, I don't know if it would be different for a '56. My book doesn't have any images for the '56.

I plan to remove the mechanism from mine and weld it shut, so if I get time this weekend, I'll pull them out. They are your's for the shipping.

Just curious, why are you welding yours shut? Do you have A/C? I know I wouldn't not want mine, I'd melt in that small cab if it wasn't for the cowl vent.

Bob, yes my truck will have A/C. Also, the PO of my parts truck took out the cowl vent operating mechanism to install the electric wipers, so if I use it, the parts will have to go anyway.

Hey Aussie 53,

When you get all your pieces together be sure to take a look at the machine screws your using...They should have a shoulder on the screw that fits on both ends of the arm (part#02121). This will allow pivot but keep from binding when they are tightened down.
I kept my vent too, I love the look when open and the air flow is awesome!
There are some generous folks on this site (with parts and knowledge) so I'm sure you'll get things fixed up...Good Luck with it!

Isn't it funny....if these trucks did not come with a vent, they would be installing one.

But it get's hot and humid here at times, And I look for Air-flow...
