Related question - for my 52, I dont have any insect mesh.

How lethal will this prove to be ?????

I don't have any mesh in mine either. Have not had a problem but i don't open it all the way. Mine also leaks pretty bad in a heavy rain. I have a new seal but hav not put in in yet.
The vent really does provide a lot of airflow and helps on a hot day.

Before you try to install it you might want to stretch it a bit. If you try to glue it on straight out the the box it won't stay in place. I stretched mine over a piece of a 2x4 and layed it out in the sun for a few days. After that it stayed in place long enough for the glue to dry. I haven't driven mine in heavy rain yet but in light rain I had no leaks...
