I found an old motor. I believe it is a 351W. I found some numbers on the block:
E4AE-6015-FA-2
And below those was a little tag screwed into the block with the numbers:
4L15
If anyone has any info on figuring out motor codes, I'd appreciate it.
I'll get back to you with that tomorrow. The engine is at a friends house sitting in his yard.
I doubt more than six. But I'll let you know tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply.
lets see, they quit using the 351m/400 in 82. yours is stock in an 84. its a W. with 6 bolts on the valve cover, its a W. if the water neck is on the intake its a W. if it kind of looks llike a 302 its a W. wow, i could go on, but ill stop here.
Thanks for the info. You're right about it looking like a 302. I wasn't sure till I found the sticker on the valve cover and it said "5.8" on it.
I'm guessing it came out of a truck. Ford didn't really put the 351 in anything else but trucks in 1984 did they?
>the block was cast dec. 15, 1984, for a ford.
> Actually it was November 15th/84
L is for November
M is for December.
Ford doesn't use the *I* in coding.
