Glow plug code P1396
My Excursion threw 3 out of four codes on the drivers side so I replaced the gpcm $140ish, and all but one code went away, throw in a $12 glow plug and no more codes. I bet on glow plug.
So the volts were 12.3 key off
11.3 key on
10.7 cranking
The tach hardly moved maybe 200 rpm
Always has had an issue to start ( in the winter ) so cranking for me is 5-8-10 seconds.. Lemme know what's next kind sir thank you for your time once again.

11.3 key on - Check
10.7 cranking - Check
The tach hardly moved maybe 200 rpm - Check
All looks good!
Do you have a way to monitor ICP, ICPv, IPR, and Duty Cycle% while cranking? AutoEnginuity, Scan Gauge II, etc.
I was kind of hoping this was going to be an easy one, maybe a simple glow plug problem.
It sounds like you have some glow plugs working if not all of them. I should start even without all of them working unless it is very cold where you are. Where are you located? If you are in a very cold area you can always use the block heater to help. You are not using biodiesel are you? If you were close to me I could use my autoengunity to check for codes.
Also while you have the autoxray ( I am not familiar with it ) clear the codes and see what new ones come up.
To the group: what is the min RPM to start? I have read it but don't remember. Slow cranking could be a starter problem. I had a starter that the bolts holding the front plate on came loose.

150-200 RPM's @ Maximum starting circuit voltage drop (battery positive terminal to start terminal) at normal engine temperature is 0.5 volt.
P1670 feedback not detected
P1396 glowplug monitor fault bank 2
P0380 glowplug circuit fault
P0344 cam position sensor intermittent
P1212 injector control pressure not at expected
Those are the codes that his fancy computer told him. He said the connectors on the valve covers and burnt up and look fine.
So it's got a new fuel pump
New cps
New fuel filter
Any suggestions on what to do about these codes?
Well the truck was broke down in front of a mechanic shop. Had to wait till today to get the news. I told them to get it started back up and call. They determined that a fuel pump was shotty on the rail. Opened up the filter housing and was bone dry. So they replaced the pump ran for codes again and ere is the new list........

Is he saying your injector is causing the 1396 code or the misfire? The injector won't cause the 1396 code.
I appreciate any and all input about this. I replace all glow plugs with Motorcraft and both GP internal wiring harnesses about 35,000 miles ago.
Where/how do I locate the fusible links relating to this? Looked everywhere for this info. No dice.

From your post I am not sure what problem you are experiencing. Any codes?
What year is the truck and does it have a GP relay or the GP module? Seem like the trucks coming out about the time of mine had different wire colors and even different wiring. My information may be completely wrong for your truck.
Have you used a voltage meter to check if the glow plugs are working by the voltage drop?
