I got to looking at my water pump and there is only one "Boss" to put a wrench on and that would be the the 48MM or 17/8 and that appears to be attached to the pump. Where does the other wrench go???

Do you mean this one?
It spans across the 4 bolts that hold the pulley to the water pump.
A strap wrench or a big set of channel locks on the pulley will work too. Use rubber hose over the jaws on the channel locks so the pulley doesn't get buggered-up.
so... looking at the engine from the front bumper, and the pulley held still- i turn the 47 mm wrench to the passenger side or the driver side to loosen? there is a sticker that says "RIGHT HAND THREAD". confused... thanks!
