Well, I'm going to have two d44s. One stock out of the parts bronco I picked up. One pretty much stock with warn premium hubs and broncograveyard chromos I think (i have to look up exactly what I bought).
Stock one will have 3.55 gears I think and the 9inch is coming off the same chassis, so they'll match, but haven't checked the ratios yet.
The other one probably won't be for sale by may. I have to get a plan to put the d60 under my bronco first.
I also have 4.56s/correct carrier and a rebuild/install kit new in box.
ok instead of starting a new thead imma ask all my silly questions here.
what tranny do you guys run or prefere?? im leaning twards the t18 for the low first gear but they seam to be harder to find. and is there any that you guys would recomend staying away from?? doesnt matter the year as long as it will bolt to a windsor.

np435, but from what ive been told, basically the same thing...
IF so, the T18 or NP435(maybe a T19, I don't have any experience with them though).
IF not, then a C6.
The E4od and AOD are basically cr*p, but if you don't abuse them, they 'MIGHT' work.
dont have to have a manual just a personal preferance. if i go auto it will deff., be a c-6 no way around that. if i go c6 it will be a manual valve body, i like to have control of what gear im in. i dont like most autos because when you let off the gas they have a tendency to wanna shift up or you floor it for wheel speed and it wants to shift up and that drives me crazy. ive played with the idea of 2 trannys but i dont have the room in a ranger for it..
im suposed to go look at a ranger today but i have a feeling this guys bs me about the condition so we will see.
IF you would be putting large tires and a built engine, then many standards aren't up to the abuse, and in that situation the C6 will be better, and can be built to withstand 1000hp.
Eitherway, the NP435 and T18 would be some good choices.
what a bout a T56 for a tranny? they can be built to hold stupid power, I just don't know if it will fit under a ranger. I got an '86 2wd I wanna build also.
ive actually thought about using the long travle prerunner kit for my rear just lifting a little more then what its supposed too. ive found one that i think is 22 inches of travel and thats plenty for me.
i need to look up the specs on those trans and see if one could be modified to use as a 4x4...hmmm now ya got me thinking again. see this is why i never jump into building anything. id rather build once and right then 25 times the wrong way.
