You really want one from a 78-79 but expect to pay $1000 plus. Later model ball joint 60s can be had for less ($800 or so) but much more is required to fab up spring mounts.

Chevy is a no no because the pumpkin is on the wrong side of the axle

well fabrication is no problem, being that i was previously a welder and now am a machinist, so basically any d60 from a ford will work it just depends on how much it will take to do it? correct?

thats it. you will have to outboard your driver side spring mounts to line up with the cast in spring perch. The passenger side perch can be cut off and moved.

Like STG said 78 or 79 is the one you want.Fabbing is one thing, but the real beneficial difference is they have the king pins instead of the ball joints

Aint nuthin wrong with a balljoint 60, if properly maintained. Ditto however on the 78-79 for your rig.

I think the biggest downfall of the ball joint 60 is the lack of options for high steer, if you need that option.

the 78 d60 fits under mine beautifully. im getting a set of dougs over the frame headers for clearance because the u-joint is beating the snot out of the downpipe.

a 78 79 would be better, but ive found other d60s of later years for like 300 bucks. and a $1000 doesnt sound to fancy right now.

what is high steer?

If you are finding 86-97 balljoint and kingpin D60s for $300, I highly suggest you snap every one of them up and resell them. You will make at least $5-600 in profit. OR if that does not suit your fancy, tell me where they are, and I will make the money. Buy them at $300, sell for at least $900(don't sell them too cheap) make your money for the correct axle in two sales.
