Fuel filters with attached cap OK?

OK I did a search but found no posts but I am not 'puter savy, sorry. I went to Advance Auto for a Purolator fuel filter and the one they sell is attached to a new lid with a flat gasket. 'tis the right one the counter woman says, throw the old lid away and screw this on and be happy. When I assume I get in trouble, are those filters OK for my 97 SD? I will save my old lid

Yep, they are OK, do not thrwo away your old cap incase you get filters w/o a lid. Personally I like the OEM lid. It seems stronger. I can actually see the new lid moving up and down with the FP pulses.

Yeah I think they will be ok but put that old lid in a zip lock bag and behind the seat so you have it if you need it later.

Price check? I pay $22 for the Baldwin with the lid attached and like the ease of change and see know signs of a pulse explosion . I did save the cap...I save all the original equipment for the museum. What do ya'll pay for what you use? How does one start a poll?

I also use the Purolator filter. No problems so far. A couple extra came with the truck. I guess I should get a extra lid just in case.

Why are the filter companies using more resources to manufacture the filter with a lid on it already?? Humm... I was fine with the old style one, although it did have a few "teeth" knocked off from a flathead, still worked though and filters were cheaper. Darn global warming!!! Ok I'm done...
