My '03 F-150 SuperCrew just stated making a loud noise when you lock the doors with the keyfob or the door panel button. The doors lock and unlock OK, it is just the drivers side door that makes a loud noise when you lock it with the fob, switch or when the automatic lock activates when you first put it in gear and accelerate. I searched a lot of threads here and saw none that were similar. Lots of door locks failing, but mine are working (for now). Is this a preliminary stage before they fail?
A bit of white lithium on the inside lock mechanism and a bit of silicone on the actuator
itself could help it if it is extra strain induced, Or you could spray the window and door
with a hose (like rain) and then open up the door and see if water is entering and getting in the actuator, This is a big problem on the Fs broncos. The rubber boot gets
torn on the actuator and the door seals leak a bit and of course there is a rod for the
water to follow right into the Actuator. Lift the boot and a quick spray with silicone
then liberally spray the outside of it.
