I have a 99 Expedition. The battery went dead after not driving it for about 5 days. When I charged it up, I looked and thought I had left the interior light on. But soon after I disconnected the charger the power door locks started making noise like they were trying to lock or unlock. Sort of in between and not able to go either way just keep clicking. 3 out of 4 doors were doing it. And as long as I heard the noise from the locks the interior light stayed on. I used the buttons to lock and unlock a few times but as soon as I stopped the locks made the noise again. So I disconnected the battery. Is there a relay going bad or maybe the switch in the drivers door, or????? Thank you for any help.
See if you have water leaking in the floor or under the dash on the driver's side. It sounds like your GEM module is acting up, and frequently this is caused by a windshield leak running down in the module.
I just got home and it happens to have been raining all day. I can feel the rug is wet. You make electrical problems look easy. Thank you. Any idea where the module is on this model? I think on my old van it was behind the side panel.
It's either a little above and to the right of the steering column on the interior firewall, or it may be like you said, hanging on the left above the kickpanel. I do not have my cd with me right now.
Check the fuse panel. Some people have problems with the water getting into it too, and it creates a real electrical mess. Over time, all the connections behind the fuse panel get corroded.
