i'm going to try to change my ball joints this weekend.. have everything ready to go.. or so I thought.. heard today that there is a few seals that need changed too.. and they can only be had from the stealership? never changed ball joints before, so I ain't got got a clue.. playing this all by ear..
probably talking about the dust seals that go on the inner axle near the u-joint to keep dirt and dust out of the axle tube. I wouldn't worry about them. 90% of the trucks out there don't have them any more.
I would also get new grease seals and wheel bearing grease and service your wheel bearings while you there. Also I would have axle u-joints on hand or a way to get to the parts store incase you find them loose or too tight when you get them apart.
I've already got the ball-joints.. got the greasable ones from auto zone.. they might not be the best, but with the discount I got it's worth it..
guess i'll try to come up with some grease and seals tomorrow.. and a ball-joint press..
and maybe i'll get this thing done sat.
