well guys the day has finally come... used my truck for a snowmobile trip to upstate new york.... got to tow our 9k 26' enclosed trailer with my 03 mxz rev 600ho and my dads 04 mxz renegade 800ho.... truck pulled BEAUTIFULLY!!!! on the way up the EGTs never broke 800 (post-turbo) and we could easily start out at 50 on a steep hill and hit 90+ by the end in the towing tune (while never going over 800 degrees)!! tranny temps never went above 180, sounded beautiful but got crap for gas milage... about 9.7 mpg... i guess that happens when you average 75mph in a truck with 4.10s... turbo sounded sweet, cruising at 75 kept a steady 15 psi... on the way back my dad and i were messing with the tunes and somehow we got better gas milage... 10.7 mpg, and we found that the stock tune hits 900 degrees at about 3/4 throttle up a hill.... and that the big tune pulls like a frieght train with the trailer attached haha... oh the only weird thing was that on the way back the trans temp hit about 195 degrees.... not high but definitely higher than the way up... maybe cause there was more stop and go traffic??
anyway it was overall a good trip and man did i love having this thing get a workout for once!!!
thats sounds great!! Very encouraging to me who is considering stage 2's in the near future. Those temps are pretty good considering you have a stock turbo. which tow tune were you using?
yup stock cooler and 180 isn't hot but when it started getting close to 200 i was getting a little nervous... and tj i'm using tony's tunes... i just said "i would like these tunes..." and i got em and this banks intercooler is good haha my dad's ex with just a small banks 6-gun (not worth the money at all) hits well over 1250 towing on flat ground at full throttle...
At full throttle it should hit 1250. There is nothing wrong with that.
mine doesn't and i have much bigger injectors... and i'm comparing his 1250 pre-turbo to my 1000 post-turbo.... he can hit well over 1200 just trying to keep up speed....
