I'm beginning to believe that the constant regen issue is due to the leak between the turbos. If the boost pressures are not building as they should and you will get improper combustion, poor power and increased soot build up in the DPF resulting in the increased frequency of regen. Constant regen would also cause excess heat in the DPF and could result in a cracked DPF. Turbo leak and constant regen would also result in significantly reduced fuel economy. Sound plausible?

Strange Regen

First time post. Very nice site. Sorry for kinda hi-jacking this thread.fficeffice" /><O></O>

Strange things have happened in last two regens. First time one week ago and again today. I parked at the store in the morning after 15 mile trip on the highway. As soon as I put the truck in park the idle jumped up to about 1200 rpm. I assumed a regen? I let the truck run while I went in the store, about 10 minutes. When I came out it was still at 1200r's and the exhaust was HOT. I jumped in and put my foot on the break to pull out and the r's dropped. All seemed fine until I tried to accelerate up the on ramp to the interstate. The boost pressure was all over the place between about 20 and 0 psi. It was so bad you could feel the truck surging as I went up the ramp. I slowed it down and got off the next exit about a 1/2 mile up. I have read that peak horsepower is limited during regen but I wouldn't expect it to be that erratic. Then as i came down the ramp I let off the accelerator. As the turbo spooled down I noticed a rubbing sound coming from the front pass. side of the truck. Something like the sound of a spinning tire coming to a stop on an icy road. Anyway, got it to the dealer today. Of course "It isn't doing it now." and they have no idea what it could be. <O></O>

Anyone have any ideas? <O></O>

I have had my truck since september and still haven't seen white smoke. How will I know when regen is taking place? Thanks.
