Talking New Reflash

Any one else heard of a new reflash coming ?
I heard a reflash mostly because of the regen bull%^it
I heard by the end of next week for the US and two to three weeks for Canada.

Suppose to cut regens in half as well as cut the fuel used for a regen in half.

Any rumors ?????

Talked with my local service advisor today and he mentioned rumblings of a new flash coming, but had no details or a date.

If you get the most current reflash does it include all the software changes/updates from all the prior reflashes, or does each one have to be done individually?

Question

does anyone know what the current flash release is? Had mine done today, a job 1 build, and they said their computer messed up & could not tell me what the version level is. Also, does anyone know what has been addressed? I remember hearing about one reflash that would fix the "hunting for a gear" under a load problem , which mine did have ,, but not sure what else it did. Do we get the regen alert in the message center now? always appreciate y'alls input....

Dont take this the wrong way but this has been talked about before, most people that go in and do what you have said above end up with issues they did'nt previously have. Unless it is a recall or you have actual dirveability issues dont get a flash you do not need. These flashes you speak of are issued as TSB's and recalls for a reason, to aid in saftey issues, specific repairs and driveability issues. People that do this and the resulting outcome is not to there likeing end up blaming ford and everbody when in fact there the ones that created the issue by claiming issues that were not there in the beginning.

IMO,If it ain't broke dont fix it.

Stated quite clearly SANDDEMON08. I notice no one on the site complains about the new flash. I spent several hours discussing this with the service manager and a tech. They both convinced me not to do it unless it was needed. The same thing goes with a BIOS in a computer they all so do not upgrade unless you are seeing the listed items.

I was merely telling them HOW to get it reflashed if they wanted it and their dealer wouldn't do it.

I agree - dont do it just to do it.

I put the Edge on my truck lately - it REALLY tells me when the regen is happening - Id rather have that then in the stock computer... The Edge seems to have fixed the issues I had with turbo lag, etc.

Im lovin the truck now.. Im usually not a fan of chips but...

did not expect the response I got on an inquiry, but hey .... the reflash fixed my "hunting for a gear" under a load problem. Have 700 miles since the reflash & all is well. I did not go to the dealer asking for a reflash ... they came back to me after replacing my job 1 fogged up headlight lenses during a warranty fix & said my version level was behind the times and offered to update it. I was just curious about what the current verion level was. I am not one of the whining bunch of '08 super duty owners ...... I happen to be very happy with my truck, even stomaching the 11.5 mpg I am getting after trading in my '01 that , with quite a few mods, was getting 22 mpg .... 0 regrets! Thanks for the input though ........

Went in today for the seat safety recall so I asked the service writer about the reflash on built dates before July of 2007 and he said that when anyone is in for service repair they check for updates like a reflash etc. So he had the tec check when he was doing the seat and said it hadn't been flashed so they did it no problem and the tec told me the things it would show on the dash screen, regen, codes for problems etc. Only drove about 40 miles home the only difference I noticed so far is the tranny shifts are more firm.

so it WILL let you know when it's in regen, thats good to know. It seemed to fix my trans problem also. When I would be rolling at 30-50 mph on a service road and get on it to hit the on ramp it would bounce around between 3rd & 4th over & over ,, like it just did'nt know where it should be. Did they have to remove your seat cover completely to fix the seat?
