Based on what I have seen in the forum recently, rebel flags?

Oddly, being from up here in Washington, I'm going to probably pass on the rebel flag option in the headliner department.

I am, however, interested to know where one might go to get the proper material to make a new headliner. I've got a supercab, and as I've been reading every parts vendor's inventory, that particular item is completely non-existent.

I've heard that you can go to upholstery shops and they have that cardboard like material to make them with. If so, I was considering going that route, and either painting it, or covering it with something (rebel flag option omitted).

There is also the whole fiberglas route, but I'm not that talented with mat and resin.
Any other ideas?

When I replaced mine, I just scraped off the old hedliner material, roughed the backing board up with some 36 grit paper.

I then just sprayed a strip of contact cement across the middle and laid on the material. "Im not sure but I think it was fleece"

Then just work your way out from the middle to each side keeping the fabric tight. When you get to the end spray some contact cement and fold it over.

So far its been up for a year and it looks great. Many people ask where I bought it from.

It took me about 45 minutes and materials cost me about $15 at Wal-Mart.

Are we talking about replacing the headliner board or just upolstering it. I'm assuming the board.

I can't believe it.There is a towing company here(small town),I decided to go see if he had a box of light's(I was looking for roof light's).Anyway,I got what I needed and I noticed a Bronco sitting under the snow.We got about 4ft.,so I grabbed a shovel dug out the driver door, and inside is complete and in good shape. But the reason for this story is because it has a perfectly good factory headliner in it.It also has chrome trim to hold it in place.I didn'd have the time to remove it,so I will go back tomorrow.

you can use some 1/8" plywood to make your headliner, Or something comperable... Cover it with a bit of padding and the material of your choice. There are some interior supply places online, places like Rod Doors that have just about everything you need

1/8" might work. I know for a fact 1/4" oak will not.

Have you tried an upholstery shop? They can either set you in the right direction, or happily take your money and do it for you.

I think that supercab is oversize. both directeions are in excess of 4 ft, so plywood is hard to do.

I helped a friend make a split headliner out of 3/16 thick panel, with a console/center strip to hide the center seam. I will do this if I can no longer find crewcab strips.

cut two panels to cover the sides, there will be a several inch gap down the center. we used a 1x6 covered with contrasting fabric which ran the full length. we further added a small console by adding a second small piece of 1x6 and two sides attached to the main 1x6 between and just above the visors. it was intended for sunglasses, but a radio/CB could be fabbed up with some shorter car visors
