ok with the stuff i have is a 51-52 cabs(x2) and a 52 front clip and a 48 front clip. what seems to be the popular front end or could i see some pictures to get an idea. no matter what ill have the larger 51-52 rear window.
You can mix and match the front clips from either style with either style cab without a problem. You do have to use the entire front clip from a style, you can't use the fenders from one and the grill or hood from the other. Even the hoods are different in the way latch in the front and cannot be interchanged without a lot of modification.
I don't personally like mixing and matching parts from the different styles. It's just my personal preference.
Next to frame swaps, the dispute between which front end design is best, between the '48-50 and '51-52, is the biggest point of contension on the board. I'm just biased, but I also think the '48-50 design is the best. Let the jousting begin
neither one of the front ends i have are pretty bad, the 52 grill and headlights are ok and the fenders are trashed and so is the hood, the 48 front end is missing the top grill bar and the fenders are rotted and the hood is good though.
in looking at the picture, note the shapes surrounding the headlights. This sheetmetal difference is one reason the two front ends can't be mixed/matched. However, your tastes will pretty much dictate what front end you want. You're looking at getting some parts either way. With enough posts, IIRC 25, you can do a forum search for " reamer ", and see about his patch panels. It's a start anyway. There's no re-pop sheetmetal that I'm aware of, so working with what ya got is a must. Dust off those hammers and dollies.
