2001 7.3L Misses

Dad's 01 superduty developed an engine miss on him the other day while just cruising down the highway. He got it home and changed the fuel filter and this did not help at all. There was no oil in the fuel filter housing either. It is kind of a ***** to get started and misses but does not really smoke at all. A quick check with a temp gun revealed the drivers side exhaust manifolds to be about 325-360 degrees F, while the passenger bank only showed around 50 - 250 degrees F. The front cylinder being the warmest. Any ideas of what to check next?

Thanks.

I would start looking at the wiring on the pass. side check your connectors on your valve cover gaskets . I sounds like mabe a couple of injectors aren't getting power.

I agree. That is too big a difference. Keep in mind the driver side will always be hotter than the passenger side for reasons I cannot explain, but that 50* is a dead giveaway of a problem. My passenger side minimum is above 200 on all holes. My driver side tends to not be as high as what you posted either. Are those readings at idle?

Yes it was at idle, but we had it revved up a bit first before just seeing what it would act like. Is it common voltage and ground wiring to each injector or how many wires are under the cover and what do they control? I know the glow plugs are under there too, just never had to pull a valve cover yet.
