Unless there is something seriously wrong with those heads, you're golden. You could still benifit by opening up the exhaust ports on those heads, if you are so inclined. You keep messing around, though, and you might accidententally wind up with a badass motor, instead of a little over stock. That all depends on your perspective of performance, though. Hey Ford347. And to think it all started when you bought a carb and intake! NOBODY can change just one thing. I sure can't! Oh well . . . . . so much for the "mild upgrade." Have fun with it!!
E7's have 64 cc chambers. These came on 87-97 trucks, vans (5.0 & 5.8)and the 87-95 Mustang 5.0's. Also found in the late 80's Lincoln Mark VII 5.0. If you get a set off a 5.8 (351W) you'll need head bolt step washers to use with the 5.0's smaller head bolts.
So what would be better for what im doing bolts with the washers or would the studs be a better choice
302's use smaller head bolts than 351w's, the step washers help center the bolts on the heads. Studs are usually better than bolts, because of the way they torque the heads down without twisting. The 2 downsides are that they make it hard to impossible to remove the heads without removing the engine in most engine bays and they cost a lot more. I am not sure , but I would think you would want the washers with the studs as well. I don't think they are a have to have option, but highly reccommended.
