hello, new user, great site!
have an 89 f-150 4x4 reg cab long box, 5.0 and 5 speed.have a 91 351 with automatic to swap in.
I have the computer for the 91 351, but no wiring harness.
i will have to change the steering column to a auto shift, and change the radiator for the cooler.
has anyone else done this swap? i guess i will have to find a harness.
thanks
what years of truck are the columns, harnesses the same?
there is also 2 different 4 speed automatics available during these years.im guessing they would have different hookups
It's pretty certain you have an E4OD tranny with the 5.8, that was a popular combo so finding a donor vehicle shouldn't be too hard.
On the other hand, why don't you just keep the stick? It's probably a Mazda tranny, not the strongest thing out there, but it will survive if you don't hammer it. The 5.8 can then use the existing 5.0 engine harness and all you need is a 5.8 computer for a manual or C6 tranny.. the other most popular combo before about 1990.
hey thanks for the info, brought the rest of the truck home last nite, not much left, its actually a 90.
what are some good shorty headers, one look at all the crap on those manifolds and its got to go!!
