Question oil pan gasket

How big of a pain is it to change the oil pan gasket on a 95 PSD and does anyone have a how to for dummies? My mechanical ability is good, but this is my first diesel. Thank everyone for their help...this site is great!!!

Its not a gasket, its RTV. Also, you have to remove the engine, flip engine over to get best results. I've heard of guys cutting/removing the crossmember under the engine to remove the oil pan. Are you sure its the oil pan gasket? Can you live with it? Oil is a good rust preventative

Bummer I really do know your pain... some helpfull hints from expirence you wanna do it right ? you gotta pull the motor and not to jump right to the end but make sure you only use motorcraft atv for sealent for the job... any other brand could cause the oil to foam and cost you an engine ...

i'm sure you can get an equivialant aftermarket, but i gurantee you that if you play with the diesel silicone you will use it on everything, its thick and isnt affected by oil. it is so adhesive when dry that it will actually peel up concrete if you smear it on a clean piece. when you try to get the pan off your motor you have to use a hammer and chisel to break it loose. it really is good stuff
