I never in my wildest dreams would think such a helpful bunch would exist! I wonder if the Chevey guys are like that? Thank you again & maybe I will take my birddog out this Saturday for our last hunt, the season ends at the end of this month an I didn't even see a grouse track.. Gp.
See now you got all your cars fixed, you can spend some time huntin, and the wife wont be on your tail about it because you fixed her car for her, you win twice!! lol..
Engine Coolant Temp sensor (ect sensor) the code that you have is a rational code. there is not a problem with the sensor. you have 2 coolant temp senors. one before the thermostat and one after. it is saying that the thermostat is opening to soon. you would get a curcit code if there was something wrong with the sensor itself. with this code and your wife saying that it takes a while to heat up, the thermostat is where i would put my money. if you have a email i can send you the diag flowchart right from chrysler. all it says is check the coolant and if its ok then change the thermostat.
The ect sensor could cause this fault code, but he would have had other symtoms than what he did. Now that i read back through his posts he said she didnt have heat, which i overlooked. Ive had a few vehicles come in with the same code and the ect was the problem. If the sensor is sending high resistance circuit signals to the computer without being eratic then the computer will throw that code that he has which leads you to think the thermostat is the problem, but you would have heat also, unlike him which he had no heat. But all is good and his PT is fixed!!
yes, you have to clear the code with the scanner. it should tell you in the book how to do it. if you clear the code and then it comes back on then there is still a problem. when you clear the code make sure the engine is not running and the key is on.
Hey Elmo! It's your old engine light buddy up here by Lake Erie and I don't have a engine problem, just a dumb one! I broke off the plastic fender gaurd on the rear passenger's side of my 2002 F 150 (#2 Blue) in the bad snow storm the other day and only need just one. I don't want to buy a set, any ideas where I could get one? Gp
i would just try your local junk yard. how much snow did you get up there. we got 20" and i loved. me and the kids were out playing all day sat. on sun. me a couple friends went to a big emty parking lot and pulled the sled with the truck. now that was fun, just like tubing.
Same here 17-20 inches and I just got out today after getting the F150 stuck in the DRIVEWAY! I thounght I could take the wife out and not snowblow the drive as it is a loooong one but had to do it this AM. Truck runs great and I love that littel tester.
Hey by the way Elmo my e mail address is -garypoling64@yahoo.com if you want to drop a line direct and tell me where all the grouse are. Went to the OHDNR open house in Akron (PORTAGE LAKES) district 3 and read the bureaucrats off why every state but Ohio has good hunting. I woulld have to drive to Wisconsin for grouse or S Dakota for pheasants and that's not right. This state takes our money and does nothing for it.. Haven't gone sleding for years, Grandaughters to sofisiticated! (16)Best to you. Gary Poling
the best way to fix that pt cruiser is to trade it in on a ford! glad to hear you got it fixed
Elmo,
If you get this message I would respect your opion on what kind of small used car would fit my life style as I need better gas milage but still need to zip back and forth to some meetings and if my health holds out I would like to go bird hunting in the fall, (not many up here). I was thinking about a Jeep wrangler or maybe a Volkswagon. I would like a 4 wheel drive.
Any suggestions? I don't trust the "dealers" up here. Gary
a jeep wrangler will not get better gas mileage than your truck. if you go to Fuel Economy
you can see the gas ratings of all cars sold. w/ 4wd you are going to have a hard time finding something that would justify getting new car. most true 4wd don't get good gas mileage. if you go with a all wheel drive suv like the honda cr-v or ford escape you could get some better mpg's about 25. i would recomend a cr-v. they are very reliable and hold there resale value.
