Just bought a 92 F150 4X4 with a 5.8 with E4OD. I believe I have a problem with the neutral safety switch. I have taken it off and put a mulitmeter ohming it on the two front outside pins. Later next week I will put a jumper on the connector to see if it starts. With the lines lined up the switch ohms out on the front outside pins. Anyone out there had any issues with these things. Thanks.
it's called the MLPS www.fordfuelinjection.com
this site has good info on it
look in the down load files there
this switch is a common problem on the e4od
Pre 94 it was called the Neutral Safety Switch, Post 94 and up it is the MLPS. To jumper it you will need to jump the pink/white and the red/blus wires, once you jump those the truck will fire from the key.
Help me if you can with my diagnosis: 1995 F150 5.0L 4EOD 275+k
I went to start yesterday and it cranked fine but would not let me shift from park. I killed the engine and fiddled with the shifter and shifted thru the gears with engine off -- all OK.
I restarted and was able to shift. After I killed it it would not re-start and stranded me. I was able to get going by crossing the starter solenoid. Today, I replaced the key cylinder thinking that could be my problem because of the shift problem previous -- no help. I am now thinking of replacing the neutral safety switch. Any ideas? Thanks
