Cruise Control Troubleshooting

Hate to beat a dead horse but I'm having problems getting the cruise control to work. I've read a lot of the forums and have done the procedures laid out. First off, My brake lights work fine, Horn works fine, Clutch safety switch works (after having to re-splice the wires back together), Just had the Safety Recall performed 2 days ago (They informed me that the Speed Control safety switch was not leaking and I did test it. Seems to work fine). Below is what I got from the procedures..

Speed Control Inoperative

A1 – Verify there is poser to the servo
- Disconnect the servo harness connector
- With the ignition switch in the on position measure the voltage between pin 7 (vehicle power) and pin 10 (ground)
- The voltage should be at least 12v ( I get 12V)PASS
If yes, go to A2; If not, got to B1

A2 – Check for stuck stop light circuit
- With the brakes applied, check the voltage between pin 4 (brake input) and pin 10
- Is there 12v? ( I get 12V) PASS

If yes, go to A3; If not, Stoplight switch is stuck on. Replace stoplight switch

A3 – Check brake/clutch circuit
- With the ignition switch off, measure resistance between pin 4 and pin 10
- Is the resistance at least 20 ohms? ( I get 2.16 ohms) Fail

If yes, go to A4; If not, Brake light bulb is blown or brake circuit is open. Service circuit including clutch pedal position switch

A4 – Check deactivator circuit
- With ignition off and no brakes applied, measure voltage between pin 9 (deactivator) and pin 10
- is there 12v? ( I get 12V) PASS

If so, go to A5

A5 – Check for stuck on switch
- With no speed control switchs depressed, check voltage between pin 5 (command switch) and pin 10
- Is the 12v? No Voltage/Open Loop

If so, go to A6; If not, replace switch

A6 – Check for switch operation
- With ignition off and steering wheel ON switch depressed, measure voltage between pin 5 and pin 10
- Is the 12v? ( I get 12V) PASS

If so, go to A7; If not, go to D1

A7 – Check for stuck command switches
- With ignition off and no switches depressed, check resistance between pin 5 and pin 10
- Is the resistance greater than 3K ohms? NO/ OPEN LOOP

If so, go to A8; If not, one of the switches is bad, replace the switch

Ok. So it says a problem with the brake circuit. I know my backup lights do not work even after replacing the bulbs yesterday. Would this affect the brake circuit? I know on some vehicles they are tied together. With no prints to look at and to know where everything is terminated it makes it a little difficult. Any help would be awesome. Thanks Guys. Oh yeah I am new on here but didn't see a introduce yourself section.

First...turn off the caps lock, it's considered rude.

The vacuum reservoir is designed to store vacuum so when the engine is under load
, i.e. low to no vacuum, the speed control can still function. Yes, you need it. I found a universal replacement on Sears.com years ago for my old '92 F350.

Cruise Control Troubleshooting.

I have looked at a couple of these posts and I wonder when it says test the brake input between pins 4 and 10, where do I test that? On another post here they were referring to circuit 153 etc.
Where do I find cct 153?
Is there a downloadable electric/vacuum manual for a 1988?
I found one hard copy but it would take almost a month to arrive and I'd like to check this out before winter kicks in.

Hello,
I have a CC on my e350 1987 and this CC stops to work since few months ago. I have an automatic transmission.
At this step, I try to understand diagram. I check on my CC servo, I have vaccum on the hose from the engine, but I have no vaccum on the hose connect to the brake pedal.
So my question is : is there vaccum on the brake pedal hose all the time or only when the CC is on ?
My next step will be to check the CC amplifier with the procedure of this post.

Thanks for your help.
