Keyless Entry?

WOW!!!! Are you guys serious about all '97 XLT's having this????? I feel like an idiot.... When I bought my truck it didn't come with one... How do you program one of the Key-pads?? Guys just made my day!!

I found these somewhere
"Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located at the base of the steering column. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. The door locks will lock then unlock to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. The door locks will lock then unlock to confirm programming."
Where is this "programing connector"???

as for how to program it, i have no idea... and i dont think it has a manual to be able to say RTFM... good luck i guess.

My '97 XLT does NOT have the RKE box. so not all XLT's have it. Like Cuda and Skittle said look under the dash above and to the right of the TPS and to the left of the ashtray and see if you have it before you buy a fob.

hey thanks guys for all the input. i was wondering if it has to be a ford specific fob. cuz i ordered some lights awhile ago and they came with 2 fobs with unlock and lock buttons. is there anyway that those ones can work if i program them right. just a uestion before i look into buying the ford one.
