just an idea, why not paint it with black zero rust, which will seal any overlooked rust problems, and either a matte clear, or zero rust's clear. everything i have sprayed in black zero rust has held up awesome, and it lays down really nice. Dan

i think it is zerorust.com, i love the stuff, it comes in several colors. it gets tougher over a few weeks time. give it a shot. Dan
