Here's the thing with that. You're not going to pick up much heat from under the hood because after going through the turbo, the air is heated. Under heavy boost, we're talking over 200*. After the intercooler, it's dropped to something like 120*. And don't forget that the **COLD** side I/C pipe is not insulated. That one is much more prone to pick up heat than the other because the air is much cooler, relatively.
Besides, it has been confirmed that Ford did it because of complaints of turbo noise from customers.
I like the foil delete mod. Mine sounds great plus I polished my tube when it was off and it looks nice too. I do agree it was a pain to take off foil but I was doing my glow plugs and UVC connector mod so I thought what the hell whats another hour or so.
Ok, I didn't know weather I would do it or not. You guys talked me into it. I am doing my auto hub grease job this weekend, so I will do that too. I should like the added shine under the hood.
I did mine about a year ago and I think it sounds neat with the WW . I just polished mine with a SOS pad ,after using WD40 , and lacquer thinner to remove the glue.
I just peeled off what I could by hand then soaked it with WD40 and let it sit and work the nasty stuff off a little at a time finished up with lacquer thinner and a rag.
thanks guys and thanks for puttin the pic on here.. i got the paint from advance auto parts and i think that its rated for 1200* just make sure that you get a cermaic paint. i think mine was a ceramic block paint.
