I say they are low impact because I don't remember them just minutes after I see them. The Tundra ads are pretty hard to forget, as are Ford bed bolt ads (and new towing hook ads).
8 mpg city might be another reason why their sales are bad.
I see your point.......but again, a locomotive attached to a frame TO ME isn't exactly low keyed.
And being an Ozzie fan; the Titan off roading with Ironman blaring in the background left an impression.....Bill's reply will be he's never heard of Ozzie.
Then again, I recall the F-150 ads where a truck is jumping through a birthday cake.......
Urban legend has it Nissan dropped the towing ads because the Dana 44 rears were so fragile......don't shoot the messenger.
Fragile? Hmmm...not all versions were...
1949/56 Ford and Merc passenger cars used Dana 44's, so did all the 1951/56 F100's, and the Dana 44 continued to be used on some 1957 thru 1979 F100/150's. It was also used as a front axle on F100/250 4WD's for decades.
The 2004/2005 Titan Dana 44 version used cast spider and axle gears..a horrible idea = they tended to strip badly. The original plan was to use Dana 60's, but Renault killed the 60's for cost reasons.
The Titan has 291 dyno'd RWHP...too much for the Dana to handle. Then consider who buys Titans...many are mod happy, speed freak lead footed young 'uns.
The rear ends were improved for model year 2006...but it's still weak, compared to the rest of the drivetrain.
EDIT: You are correct, Jack...I have no klew who Ozzie is...unless you're speaking of Ozzie Nelson...someone who was famous once (a big band leader and the star of the Ozzie and Harriet TV show).
I doubt that too many ppl here on FTE ever heard of Ozzie Nelson!

But NONE of those were rated to tow close to 1OK.....the 9" was most certainly used in the bigger V8 1/2 tons.

Bill, I totally understand/agree........and that is one of the reasons I cite for the Titan's poor acceptability.

It's intersting to note that maybe the reason you don't acknowledge the Nissan ads is they were not geared for your demographics....
Of course everyone knows Ozzie Nelson.....he spawned Ricky Nelson (a sorta rock star BTW) who, rumor has it, started the fire in the plane that crashed killing him......damn rock stars cannot figure out how to light a crack pipe!!! LOL!!!

Quite true...I don't watch the same shows most ppl do, so I don't see the Titan film ads...but where are the magazine ads? As stated, between the "war department" and myself, we get around 30 magazines a month. I haven't seen a Titan or Armada print ad since 2004.
Everyone knows who Ozzie Nelson is? How old are you Jack...50 something? I doubt that too many ppl here even remember Ricky!
Ricky Nelson...AFAIK....free basing is what started the fire in the plane.

Well, Just for grins and giggles I looked at my March issues of Road & Track and Motor Trend:
They both had 0 Titan OR Tundra ads....
However, they both had 1) Infinity ad.....1) Murano ad.....and 1) Altima ad.
Both contained 1) Corolla ad...and that's it for Toyota.
Kinda strange that Toy ads didn't flood the Motor Trend mag considering that was the only way they were able to win TOTY.
Also strange that Nissan had 3:1 more ads than Toy.

Nope, not quite that old....but, Ozzie and Harriet have been in syndication FOREVER!!! (I know, know....you don't watch THAT kind of TV programming)

I actually liked that ad, but only because of the music. Good ol' Black Sabbath.
The Edge IS nice, and it does not have more Mazda DNA than Ford. The Edge is based on a modified version of the Ford Fusion platform, which itself is based on a modified and enlarged version of the Mazda 6 platform. The Mazda 6 is moving over to the Fusion's enlarged platform with their new model.

ummmmm..........OK
Key word is they are ALL based on the "MAZDA" 6 platform.
And being that our MKZ is on the same architecture, there's nothing wrong with that.
I have no opinion one way or the other concerning the Edge......I have just read that it is an overweight crossover that comes up short in most comparisons.
(OK, I lied.....I do have an opinion: I think the Edge AND the MKX are butt ugly)

I have no idea what the difference is...or if there is a difference. I don't use drugs and never have...ever.
All I remember is what the FAA said caused the fire.
btw: I don't read Road & Track, and haven't since John Bond sold the rag to a new owner...something like 20 years ago.
Outside of Motor Trend, which I've subscribed to since 1955, and Automotive News (a subscriber since 1967)...most of the car mags I get are old car related.
