is there anything that can be done for the goofy shifting my e4od does? i have a 97 f 351 460 e4od 3.55 235 75 16s 4x4.i just took my first trip in this truck since i ordered it 5 years ago.i'm ill picked up my power wagon in ca.it sucked,4000 rpm shfts no shifts even locked in direct.would shift hard enough sometimes thought windshield was going to break!!this truck had 19533.2 mi.when i left it has 23000 now and had not been more than 200 mi from home i can't stand it thinking of trading if no fix available please help. eric
I think I understand your posting. Sounds like the pressure in your tranny is too high. I have not heard of anyone wanting their tranny to shift softer so I'm guessing here but you should be able to have it adjusted to shift smoother.
YOUR RIGHT IT SHIFTS TOO HARD.WHEN I WAS RACING WE USED TO BLOCK OFF THE ACCUMALATOR PUMP.ALONG WITH OTHER STUFF.MY CAR CONSISTANTLY WOULD BREAK THE WINDSHIELD EVERY 7OR8 PASSES(9.80/141TO10.30/127INDEXES) THIS TRUCK MAKES THAT CAR LOOOK LIKE A FAMILY CAR AT A FUNERAL.I DO NEED SOME HELP HERE.THIS TRUCK HAS EVERY OPTION PERFORMACE/RUNNING GEAR WISE YOU COULD GET AND STILL HAVE A BOX INSTALLED FROM FACTORY. REAR DISC'S ARE THE ONLY THING IT DOESNT HAVE.SOME STUFF THE MECHANICS HAVE NEVER SEEN ON A 1 TON. I REALLY DONT WANT TO SELL IT BUT THIS THING IS A REAL BUMMER. SORRY FOR RAMBLING I'M NEW TO THIS SITE AND THE NET IN GENERAL.IVE EVEN CONSIDERED PUTTING A C6 IN IT AND JUNKING THE E4OD.
In that case go to the list of Conferences and scroll down the list. You will find a forum for discussion of transmissions and should find some help there. The E40D tranny is a good tranny. I would not junk it.
