I am posting this question because I can get no information elsewhere.I own a 1971 Ford f100 4x4.I heard that an early bronco power steering unit was almost a bolt on for a power steering conversion in my truck.Any information will be greatley appreciated.--------------------------------------------------------IN need of help -----Armstrong no more!!!!
I don't know about 4x4's in particular, but I do know that the early Ford had a pretty screwy P/S setup around that time in general for cars and trucks. Try looking for a P/S setup out of a '73-'79. I know on a 2wd it's direct bolt in swap, and simpler setup in general than the factory setup for your '70.
Thanks Trail Rider, I have found a 79 F100 4x4 power steering box that will work on my 71 F100 4x4 as a conversion. I will have to send it to a shop in Scottsdale AZ. to have the sector shaft reversed and the rest rebuilt while its there. thanks again for the help.

use of an f100 ps gear requires drilling a hole in the frame and also fabricating a
bracket to support the gear. there are other alternatives. jeff's bronco grave yard
has other pumps and gears to look at. they are online and easy to work with.
I'm currently building a 1971 f250 4x4. its to the point where the frame is rolling again but now that its ready to be bolted under the body i need to figure out what im going to do about power steering.. the truck will be running atleast 39" tires so keep that in mind.
all help will be greatly appreciated
thanks
