hey i want to do a tc lock this week, but, i dont need the led's and all the thrills. i wanna do it like i did my ebpv. one wire, one simple toggle switch. whats the easiest way to do so?
Yup, like I did... Find the purple wire w/ yellow tracer under your truck. It will be on the driverside frame rail. DON'T Cut the wire, but splice into it with a splice connector. Run another wire up to a switch and the other side to ground. Flip switch = Locked TC. Thats how i have mine setup.
OK. i'll be doing that this afternoon if i get to feeling better. thanks for the help guys. we're getting there 1 mod at a time haha. my brother just took my truck to get a brake rotor for his ranger so he's gonna get me a switch.

So, does this give you a mpg increase? What is the risk if you fail to unlock before you try to stop?
Might see an MPG increase?? All this does is let you decide when to lock/unlock the TC instead of the PCM. If you forget to unlock it before coming to a complete stop the engine will die...kinda like coming to a stop with a manual trans and forget to push in the clutch.

Well my train of thought there was that if you could engage the TC earlier than normal and leave it locked, with less slipage you might gain MPG... Otherwise what is the benefit? Racing?
And I thought that the engine stall would be the case, but my concern was the possibility of damage to the TC/Trans if you stopped while locked...

That makes sence on the MPG issue but I couldn't tell you for sure. Someone will chime in that has done this mod with more info. Gotta take it FWIW, just incase someone is justifing the mod with exagerated claims.
I don't think stalling the engine would cause damage to the TC or trans but you never know. I'd bet after a few stalls you would learn not to do it
