03 6.0 F250 sdc 4x4 where is the glow plug relays located? my light comes on and stays on for about 10 sec. but having trouble starting I hope the glow plugs are the cause Its not that cold out side around 40 but seems like the longer it set the longer i have to spin it to get it to fire
Busta..., I recently posted a problem starting my '03 as result of an oil change. I went from Rotella CI-4 plus syn 5/40w to Delo CJ-4 15/40w which is recommended for towing. Never had an issue with the truck starting even down to 17°F without plugging in the block heater. After the oil change, the truck had a lot of trouble turning over on nights when the temp is below 40°. Had to start plugging in the block heater every night, no problems with startups. I don't know if its related to your problem, just a thought. Good luck.
are you running a tuner or any other mods? how many miles you got on your truck. Im thinking there is a test to see if the glow plugs are getting weak or some might not be working, but I cant really tell you for sure. My plugs are getting weak I think too and im going to be changing them out with the new injectors soon. if I remember right the glow plugs are pretty cheep and won't cost a whole lot if you can do it yourself.
6.0 might be on to something too if you run a little long on the oil and filter changes. If you run alittle long on the changes that could give you the hard starting too.
I've got 122,400 miles on it and I run a supperchip programer in the econ. mode for fuel mileage getting 21 mpg and still get alot of boost when I need it. and I only have 1000 miles on the oil change. So thats why i thank the glow plugs may be the problem. just guesing don't know for shur
