I'm 99% sure the ticking you hear at KOEO is the glow plug relay, correct? My truck's been in the shop for some work and when I picked it up on Saturday (work wasn't done yet, but I needed it for the weekend) I noticed it no longer ticked at KOEO. The glow plug light still comes on, and goes off after a few moments, but the ticking is gone. Could they have left the glow plug relay unplugged or done something to damage it? They're working on replacing injectors... #1, #4, and #6. Also replacing the alternator.
I agree injectors buzzing. Now I do not know why but some trucks even of the same year model you can clearly hear them and some you can't an some you can barely hear.
Some of the flashes do extend the cycle but even that sometimes does not make a difference even when commanding a buzz test with your scanner.
Maybe I am crazy... I heard it again earlier this afternoon after not hearing it for three days. They are planning on reflashing the PCM and FICM, but I doubt it's been done yet. They hadn't gotten approval for ANYTHING from the warranty company yet and knowing these guys they wouldn't do anything without payment guaranteed and I had already told them I wasn't paying anything beyond the $250 deductible... Is flashing them a "free" thing?

Not sure how Ford dealers operate, but the new strategies might have been automatically updated when they connected the computer for diagnostics.
Cheezit or MChan would likely have more insight into the inner workings on that.
My neighbor's truck had the VCXF7 strategy and was updated to VCXF9 and it sounds a lot different than it used to. I am still running VCXF4 with the "Buzz" FICM flash so my truck sounds like a circus every time I start it and shut down.
If they had left the Glow Plug Module unplugged
you WOULD know it.
The CEL would be on. That GPM is more than a stupid relay.
It has some brains and can even tell what glow plug
is bad if one is bad.
