Hi,
I'm at a lost I went to put a electric brake controller on my F250 and it isn't there I look for the location as per the diagram there's just a empty space there. The truck came went a trailer towing package. I did find 4 wires (Blue, Black, Red, Green) not terminated and the same wires are taped up under the hood. I'm at a lost should I take my truck back for the dealer to look at?
The plug is back behind the little cubby hole where the upfitter switches and trailer brake controller would be if they were installed on your truck. Is that where you are looking?
Did someone else own this truck before you? Is it possible they cut the plug off in order to wire in their own brake controller?

Yes I bought the truck used but the owner was a elderly gentleman who never towed with it. I pulled the cover under the steering wheel where the fuse box is. Are you talking about the cover that is about 3 x 4 and is held in place by two screws and under the radio?
After you pull down the big panel under the steering column, look towards the passenger side. You will see an opening in the structure behind the dash behind where the factory trailer brake controller goes (or behind the drivers side storage comparment if you have it). Back in there is where the plug should be.
I'm searching to see if I can find the old thread with pictures of the plug. I know there is one on here somewhere.
This is a picture of a 99-04 truck, so the plug looks a bit different, but I am pretty sure they are in the same location. In his pictures the steering column would be at the top of the picture, and he is looking toward the passenger side. He unclipped the plug from the bracket it is normally attached to in order to get at it easier. It normally would be back through that triangular shaped hole attached to a bracket and pointing slightly down and toward the back of the truck.
on my 05 there is a little cubby hole beside the upfitter switches the wires are attached to the back of the cubby via dummy plugs one plug is for the ford controller and the other one is for after market brake controller

Thanks!! I found them deadended behind the storage compartment on the drivers side there were two plugs. You'd think Ford would mention this in the owners manual or the spec sheet with the harness.
