F250 Climate Control

Hey all,
I have a 2005 F250 Superduty Lariat PpwerStroke with 21233 miles went out this afternoon (25 F) and started my truck and the climate control unit was dead, no lights no power, etc. I checked the fuses and none were blown, I started to pull out and turned the lights on and the unit came to life???? Any ideals on what's happening?

Thanks,

amckinney34

Hold off on going to the dealer. Give the folks here a chance to work through it with you. It's getting late in some areas, may get good posts tomorrow at the latest.
Give the thread a bump tomorrow if ya need to...

This is a known problem with the EATC units. The relays in them start to stick and they won't turn on at first. You can usually get them to come back on by turning the headlights on and off a couple times, or shutting the truck off and restarting it.

However, this problem usually gets worse over time, so if you are under warranty be sure to take it in and get it fixed. Next time it fails to turn on drive straight to the dealer and show them that it isn't working if you can. They usually won't replace the unit unless it is malfunctioning, and it's hard to get it to repeat the problem when you want it to.

If you are out of warranty I would say just try to live with it until it gets really bad, as the part is pretty expensive (over $300 I think). Once it is totally done buy the part and swap it out yourself as it is an easy job. Check with FTEPartsGuy for a good price.

Question

I'm wondering if my problem is related issue....

I have a F350 2007 70k - which is having Heating and AC problems. Everything worked fine until the unit won't shut off. The blower remains at high flow rate. All the other buttons seem to work fine - the temp up and down, the zone selector for feet, defrost etc. It's just the blower which can't be adjusted nor turned off.

I was about to take it in but it started to work like normal after a week. Then a week later it happened again and I'm sitting here wondering if it will fix itself again (HA!).

I pulled and visually looked at the blower fuse and relay but that didn't help. I don't see any other fuse(s) for the actual AC / heater electronics and not sure I want to start pulling all possible associated fuses as I don't want to cause bigger problem.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem in my 05. Turn the lights on and off a couple times this will fix it. It happened to me a couple times and this fixed it. I never noticed mine really getting worse however so I never had mine fixed.

This sounds more like the resistor pack on the blower motor itself (assuming the EATC units still work that way).

Someone else may be able to let you know for sure.

I had my climate control go blank also, but it's never gotten worse. It has done it 4 times since May 2005.

If it does it, just switch your headlights to auto then back to off and it should come back on!!!

'05 F250 Lariat/ King Ranch. I am having the same problem. Unit went dead and later the same day came back on. It defaults to defrost no matter if I have it switched to panel or floor and mysteriously (could be several days or weeks) switches to where it supposed to blow. It doesn't switch all the time. Also when the control module is switched to "OFF" warm air leaks out of the defrost. Trying to figure it out. I've got 81K miles. Had it to dealer and they said it could be the control module or vacume module. They said the vacume module could make the module go dead.

Still looking for answers. If you get anymore info send me a message
