curtis, figured it out, harpon mod that is. can u tell me y u upgraded to the Garrett GTP38R Ball Bearing Turbo and what kind of gains did u see? also can u tell me about Terminator Engineering High Pressure Oil System, Deleted Exhaust Backpressure Valve w/non-EBPV Pedistal, Stainless Steel High Pressure Oil Crossover mods??? thanks. rob.
can u tell me y u upgraded to the Garrett GTP38R Ball Bearing Turbo and what kind of gains did u see?
I swapped the turbo because 1) I had major surge issues with the stock turbo and 2) I was planning to add big oil later and the stock turbo wouldn't be enough for what I wanted. Strictly swapping the turbo out didn't net me any performance gains. In fact, I still ran the same ET's in the quarter mile. However, the surge is gone, and I can safely run 30+ psi of boost without killing the turbo.
also can u tell me about Terminator Engineering High Pressure Oil System
The Termy is great. It has worked flawlessly, and Joey at TE has excellent customer service. The Terminator allows me to run higher oil pressures, resulting in better fuel atomization and power with less smoke. The Termy alone dropped my drag strip times by 8/10ths of a second.
I removed the EBPV because I didn't use it. Kept it disconnected for over a year before taking it out. The pedistal came out at the same time, also because it was leaking oil everywhere.
Stainless Steel High Pressure Oil Crossover mods???
That mod connects both of the high pressure oil rails. Helps smooth the idle out a bit. Some trucks benefit more than others. I don't really need it now that I have the Terminator setup, but I kept it on anyway. Doesn't hurt.
chris, do u recommend the high oil pressure system?? benifits of the termy is better performance, mpg?? what is price of kit?? can u tell me more about the exhaust backpressure valve and deleted ebpv?? where is it located, what does it do and what did u gain by removing it?? instead of replacing stock turbo can a banks wicked wheel be used and prevent surge?? thanks. rob.
I use a BTS dual oil pump. This is the one that sits one on top of the stock unit. I don't know about better mpg since I am always driving it like I stole it. I do know that I was using Big Oil tunes before the BO system went it. It would smoke when I romped on it. Now, it has no smoke virtually. Better atomization. About $2400. With that, the High Pressure Crossover is not needed since it equalizes pressure on both heads.
