First mod I did back in Jan '08 and glad I did it.
No screens to clog in tank.
No air in fuel system.
Can easily check see through pre-pump filter.
No more fuel regurgitating out the fuel filler neck when refueling. That was a big problem on my truck.
Can get 33+ gallons in the 29 gallon tank.
TIP: I used 2 cam lock tie-downs stretched from frame rail to frame rail to lower the tank. No jack. Used ratcheting tie downs to lift tank back up. Used a floor jack for the last couple of inches to get the strap bolts started. Working alone the tie-downs are like a second pair of hands.
If you don't have a ratcheting PVC pipe cutter get one. Cutting the fill and vent tubes (Harpon Mod) will only take seconds, cut will be as close to top of tank as can be and no debris in tank to clean out as there would be if a saw were used.
If I do it again on another truck I will not remove the return fuel line quick-connect at the tank, but reuse it. It is oriented properly to handle the pressure of the return fuel.
Didn't want to run around getting a DIY kit together so I got this kit. LINK.

If your truck is running well now, you will probably not notice any "improvement" at all.
It is a preventive measure, as it eliminates the potential for clogging and air incursion into the fuel system.
However, if you DO have low flow rates, or lots of fuel foaming, then you WILL see some improvement.

Yes Sir. The Harpoon Mod (Harpoon was the username of the guy who thought it up) is a big bonus. No more wiping the fuel off the side of the truck, if you weren't paying attention, or taking an extra 5 minutes to completely fill the tank.

You can do the Hutch & Harpoon mods now and then buy and intall the "better filter" later. In the mean time you will have the advantae of the mods. You won't have to drop the tank again. Adding a small inline filter now woud be less than 3 bucks.
