Is there a place on this site to find a breakdown on block, head, etc. casting numbers? I have what I think is a '70 or '71 429 with a block casting # of D1VE 6015-AA. I was hoping this would tell me more about my ORIGINAL deck height to help determine the original compression ratio. I am giving this engine its 2nd rebuild. The poor thing was miserably rebuilt by someone who knows even less than I do. (There was RTV EVERYWHERE behind the timing cover. I think I could've stood back and threw globs of RTV at the engine and done a better job.) There are no numbers stamped on the block by the machine shop who decked the block for me, and I have no way of knowing how much, if any, was removed during the 1st rebuild. I guess the simplest thing to do would be to measure it, but it would be nice to know that actual original compression ratio. By the way, the heads are DOVE-C. These are 75.8cc heads right? I've been told these heads are fairly rare and worth keeping. Any comments?
Your block is a '71. And yes the heads are worth keeping but if you want to get rid of them let me know. I found a place on the web to help brake down the block and casting numbers try this link: http://www.wantabe.com/hdrace/dfrdpt.htm
