Bolt the kickdown rod onto the swiveling lever, the one with the spring screw on it. Attach the bracket to the left front carburator stud and attach the spring to the bracket and the swiveling lever.
Your throttle rod will snap onto the ball mounted on the outer throttle arm.
Ok I figured I was supposed to connect the kick down to the swivling arm but don't understand HOW it stays on. The stud isn't threaded or nothing was provided in the kit to help connect it. I also don't remember an additional hole on the arm to put a small bolt in. I will check again tomarrow to make sure of this. The kick down in simply a hole in the end of the rod.
I figured the throttle rod will have to connect on the outside of the new linkage because if I put the connecting ball stud on the inside it will hit the kick down?
I am posting two pictures showing the linkage stud that just has a small ring in the end of it I assume a snap ring or something could be put in it to hold the kick down on with.
Other pic is how the end of the kick down looks.
I will play with it tomarrow, but I am probably making this much harder than it should be.
BTW these pics are before I installed the new 1483 piece.
I went to Lowes and got me a E Clip. I just bought two different sizes and the 1/4" fit. I connected the throttle linkage and kickdown but it just doesn't seem right. Every time I go to the truck I forget to take the camera with me to take pictures. I will tomarrow if I can and post them so maybe someone can figure out what I am doing wrong.
Ok I finally got the pictures of the linkage on the carburator so maybe someone can see what I am doing wrong. For reason I feel that the kick down isn't right. There is a bolt hole in the manifold toward the front of the block I have to figure out what size it is and I was going to use it for the throttle return spring.
The spring and the metal thing that you bolt to the bottom of the first corner stud on the carb are just sitting on the intake right now. The kick down rod will not go any much further to the front than where it is now. Might have to bend it? I also need to take the carb off and install some 2 3/4" or 3" studs because the ones on now are just to short.
This really shouldn't be that difficult. The kickdown rod is pretty much where it should be. at WOT of the carb, the rod should be as far back as it can go... use the adjusting screw to get the position at WOT correct for both. The 'at rest' position isn't that important.
The linkage arm for the spring bolts under the drivers side front bolt of the carb base... and the spring hooks from there into the small hole on the kickdown linkage.
You also have a carb spacer, so you'll more than likely have to use the kickdown extender to attach the rod to the lever. Other than that bolt on the spring to the forward carb stud and the throttle return spring to the rear intake boss.

You know I didn't even think about that. I will try to extender as soon as I can get a chance to work on the truck.
I don't know why this gets so complicated. I just bought the 1483 and bolted it on. There was no extender or additional hardware required. I did have to bend the kickdown lever to lengthen it out a little. Here is a picture of mine. I hope it helps
