thanks for the help... yea man its been snowing here alot lately and it doesnt help that we just got bout 14 inches of snow today...pretty much a blizzard down here
We run all yellow (meyer) plows. They are straight blades, all of them. What we can't do with a plow we do with a box on a skidloader, about to get a second one too. We have three 7.5', two 8.5' and two 9' meyer plows. The new hitching system is very easy, all the stuff stays on the plow you can put it inside and park the truck outside for security reasons.
nice yea im just looking to find one decently priced... i saw a western that was on a 04 f350 that came with everything and the bid was at like 1500 so i emailed him hoping that this will fit on my truck and that i can get it around the 1500 area
Unless you mount up the plow yourself you prolly wont be able to get a shop to mount it up for you for a while. And finding a plow right now might be real hard, your not goin to be the only one wanting a plow now thats its snowing alot. But good luck and hope it all works out
just so you know, plowing snow is hell on a truck, especially with salt states. We have a 95 powerstroke dump truck (salt truck) that i had to pull the engine out to fix a rusted oil pan, come to find out the exhaust leak wasn't an exhaust manifold leak, it was an actual rust hole in the head exhaust port just outside of the valve cover! THREE cylinders!!
I plow with 9' western pro plow plus staight blade it's a heavy duty commercial version. Still has the quick mount and lights stay with the plow when it's off the truck.
Finding a used plow with a frame and wiring harness that will fit yor truck is going to be a challenge. I wouldn't get anything smaller than 8', I think that is still to small but are more common and may be easier to find used. The wider the blade the easier it is to plow next to something like a curb or posts, the width keeps your truck away from object, keeps your tires from rubbing on the curb when blade is at an angle. Also the obvious reason for wide blade=move more snow faster.
I have a Sno-Way 8' plow that mounts very similar to the blizzard Tim posted. I can have it off in less than a minute and it takes about 4-5 minutes to install. It is full self contained on the a-frame so when it is off the truck, the truck looks clean, no pumps, hoses, etc.. It also has the lexan type blade which is nice as the headlight shine through it. Glad I have mine but with all the snow in Jan. there is no where to push it any more. We need some SUN.
yea i tried looking on craigs list all over wisconsin and cant really find one..hopefully this weekend can find one in the milwaukee journal
Craigslist has a TON! A lot of them don't say what they are for, but I was on two pages of plows. Most of them were attatched to trucks, but there were still a strong ten for sale in the Milwaukee area listings. I never searched Mad or Rockford.

There are also two 810's listed but neither have mounting and wiring for a Superduty and they are both on the east coast. Search "Blizzard snow plow"
This is the part that intimidates me with the plow scene! I don't understand all this mount, light bar, etc. Craigslist has ten of them, but only the old junk with the big metal thing out front has a model range listed. Most just say "Western 8'6" snow plow $1500"
I assume these new plows will go on anything? Just get the right hitch to go between the frame and plow and you win?
Are the lighting systems plug and play or cut and splice junk?
Check out the SnowSport HD Plow by ACI (Agri-Cover, Inc.). It's easy to use, not hard on your truck, and affordable. It has a motion-activated, self-adjusting blade, so there are no controls (wiring or hydraulics to install) that can freeze, malfunction, or wear out. Which is good when you live in the snow belt like you and I do. It easily attaches to the front of your vehicle with our model-specific mount that's included with the blade. The complete package comes standard with a 3 Year Warranty, so you really can't go wrong. They are $1,299 and we've even seen people use them for their commercial business not just residential plowing. I know from experience of living in rural North Dakota, that these plows work! Visit www.agricover.com and check out the videos to see it in action. You can buy one directly from the factory on our website or give us a call if you have any questions at 888-587-8813 or email customerrelations@agricover.com. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Yes I know for a fact that Boss and Blizzard and probably Meyer, western, and fisher all are universal plows and have vehicle specific mounts that bolt to the truck. They also come with universal wiring harness and controllers and have vehicle specific head light adapters to for plow and vehicle headlights. The only splices done are for parking and turn signal lights.
Also No disrepect to our sponsor but those snow plows don't look like they would work too well.
